I have just finished this pencil drawing of Arabian horses which features mother son and father   (Senneca, Stavros and Eldon), with Eldon in the background. Much of my earlier drawings feature subjects on a white background and the graphite is used on the subject only. Creating a dark background setting for these magnificent animals really seems to bring the best out in them.  I deliberately faded Eldon in an exaggerated  dominant position in the background and used a rising mist to create a surreal scene. My thanks to Sue and Trevor for providing the photographs for making this possible.  While I take photographs before starting a commission in some cases it is often better to use material provided by the owners , as they see the subjects more often than I ever could and can catch those telling moments  I would miss.
