Following on from last week, I thought I should show this painting I did nearly 10 years ago which helped to shape some of the work I do today. The client wanted a special painting for his wife’s 60th birthday and what started out as a small work with just some of her horses, ended up as their family history over 35 years of married life. After a number of secret meetings at motorway services the design was finalised and the painting started. As well as featuring best memories taken from the family photo album in a montage setting, it demonstrated a way of permanently recording family history that not only could be shared with current family members but passed on as an heirloom for future generations. The painting was one of the largest I have done at 48 x 36 inches with prints also given to the two sons and daughter. It was a pleasure to paint with so many stories within the images.
