Following on from a recent blog on cats I have just finished another cat drawing. The cat named Pippa had died a while ago and the owner had commissioned the drawing having ordered a cushion featuring a Maine Coon cat on my website. The owner also wanted  a copy of the drawing to go on to a cushion as well as mugs and coasters so Pippa’s memory could be enjoyed  in differing ways.  While a painting or drawing hangs on the wall to be admired and act as a permanent  reminder,  it is not something you can use or carry around with you .  An artwork memory of someone special  on simple items like this is not expensive and adds a uniqueness to something which can be otherwise quite ordinary.  Historically some people have carried images of loved ones in lockets, cigarette cases, wallets and pocket watches among other things, providing an immediate reminder of someone with the usefulness of the item.
